Our Missions

"To those who are given much, much is expected in return." Thalia Trinity Presbyterian church applies their mission statement, "Ordinary People serving an Extraordinary God" through their Mission programs. Missions are both local and international.

School Supplies
School supplies are given to the Virginia Beach homeless school program through contacts with Interfaith Alliance at the Beach (IAB). This mission is specific to a list of items requested by the school program for those students are unable to afford the basic school items.
Thanksgiving Baskets
Each year our church provides twelve Thanksgiving baskets to local families referred by the Department of Social Services. Each family receives a turkey, staple goods (biscuit mix, flour, sugar, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, stuffing mix, etc.), canned goods (fruits and vegetables) and perishables (milk, eggs, etc.). Volunteers to prepare and distribute the baskets are welcome; so are donations of food or money.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer we partner with Thalia United Methodist Church to lead Bible school for a hundred and fifty or more neighborhood children. We supply volunteer teachers, worship leaders, cooks and, of course, children. Children come from all over to attend.

Move-in-kits are for formerly homeless families who have found housing through Samaritan House's social workers, and who need basid cuspplies to set up housekeeping. these kits contain cleaning supplies, sheets, blankets, disshes, utensils, and pots and pans. Items can be new or used.
5 Cents-A-Meal
On the second Sunday of each month, children of the congregation collect a special offering. Participants are asked to give five cents for each meal they eat — about a dollar a week. Half of the offering goes to meet local needs; half goes to international hunger projects.

School Supplies

School supplies are given to Thalia Elementary and Malibu Elementary Schools. These are general school supplies to our neighborhood schools to start the schoole year off right for all students within their individual schools.

Youth Group Missions

Our Youth Group is self-directed in their mission work. While they contribute to the overall Deacons' Fund projects, the students identify through their Sunday School class specific areas within the Virginia Beach community to which they want to direct their youthful energies/efforts. Examples may include: serving meals at JCOC, hygiene kits for homeless youth, gleaning potatoes on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, parents' nights out for families of the Early childhood School (ECS), and conducting contemporary church services.

Each summer, the youth group goes on a week-long mission trip. In recent years, they have worked on home improvement projects for poor Appalachian families.
